Kvndoom - I totally agree (& have posted a long time ago the same idea). Rewarding players who finish the game will help PVE, get rid of the neccessaty to farm & combat inflation.

It also, quite simply, gives you an incentive to play after reaching lvl 20

Sure there will be those who just buy them and sell to people who don't want to do the missions, but then they have to weigh the high cost of not playing versus the low cost of playing. In War Camp the "LFG Farming" seems to outweigh the "LFG questing" by about 10 to 1. Was that the original intent of incorporating green items?
Some good ideas, but one comment: I and some of my friends, and I would suppose many others, do not like buying items such as high level weapons. We like finding them, or getting them as rewards. I have never purchased a weapon in all my playing of Guildwars. I have been given some by playing friends, and have given away some in return, but otherwise I have enjoyed immensely the thrill of the dead creature drop or chest drop (where I get most of my keys from creature drops). So I wouldn't like the idea of having an area where green items could be purchased. The idea of getting them as a reward for completing quests, though, sounds fine.

I don't see why Anet doesn't make limits on things, like limits on what areas you can enter or what armor you can wear and what missions you can enter based on your level or whether you have completed certain required missions beforehand.

How much time SHOULD a mission take to complete? What is wrong with a mission taking a few hours to get finished? Hey guys, the PVE part of GW is a game to be played, and the name of the game is to battle through missions and quests. Ok, there are the side things like searching for nice creature drops, but primarily, the PVE part of this game is all about building up your character by performing quests and missions. Why is everyone so interested in reducing the quests and missions to take as little time and effort as possible? I mean, come on, the missions ARE the predominant part of the PVE part of this game.

My friend got to the Iron Mines mission last night, and so we started to form a group to do infusion+mission+bonus. A ranger joins the group and after finding out we were not intending on running the infusion part, he replied "no one fights this mission". WTF???? Is that the general belief these days?

And what is this BS about it taking too long to perform missions without a fire nuking elementalist? I've played all the missions at least a few times without any fire elementalists, and if the team plays well, they don't take significantly longer than with a fire nuker.

BTW, last night I met an elementalist playing air magic, not because of the patch but just because it was more fun for him. I made the same move with my elementalist, to air+earth, months ago for the same reason. But I felt always a bit wierd entering parties as elementalist, since most PUGS expect the elementalist to be a level 16 fire nuker. And playing air elementalist without AOE is a lot of fun and a lot of help to a group, e.g. with weakening and blinding spells as well as direct damage spells. Thankfully the recent patch will allow for a more "guilt-free" move from fire to air elementalist.
Dude, chill out, and keep terms like "idiotic" and "bullshit" for your friends.

I'm talking about casual players that do not even read a board and are stucked for weeks on missions like thk.
Now they cannot go with henchmen, because they aggro the whole map chasing running chickens (and btw, henchmen are way more reluctant to move out of aoe spells, anet hypocrisy strikes again), and is a real pain to find a decent group, because a lot of ppl do not even read the upgrade notes and keep playing their fire eles.

And even with the right setup, is utterly boring to use hundred times the same retarded strategy to cripple every single enemy.
The original concept was to make a game enjoyable without spending endless hours on it, with missions accomplishable in 30 mins/1 hours. Now this is impossible, because for some missions a casual player need to:

1-spend hours to make a decent group
2-spend hours to complete the mission because people cannot nuke groups of enemies like in any other freaking fantasy game

And what's the result?
Farmers keep farming, runners keep running and casual players are RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOed.
Yeah, great job.

Btw, i deleted my ele 2 weeks before the update to make a necro/mesmer and can still farm, so the update dont affect my game so bad. But actually there are tons of casual players (my guildies too), that are leaving the game, because the original game concept is completely changed now.

p.s.: on the iron mines wtf comment. Am i supposed to fight the whole way to the seer every time I have to infuse a new armor? Funny

and p.s. 2: before you comment my idiotic english, look at the location

Just a couple of comments:
1. You don't have to beat Hell's Precipice to get to War Camp.
2. SF bosses still drop greens, just not at the rate they used to.

If chilling out is needed, its not on this end. Did I call anyone an idiot? No. I said it was one of the most idiotic standpoints. But true, I should have qualified the statement by adding "In my opinon ....". I admit, you got me there.

Sorry, don't get the point. The casual player will learn the new "rules" like anything else. And playing with henchmen is still very possible, although until a few AI tweaks are made, a little more difficult.

Hmmm. To 1: yes, its too bad, actually, if you usually spend lots of time forming a decent group. I don't ever spend more than 10 minutes or so. No one around that wants to join us? We fill the party with henchies. To 2: well, that is a shame also. But nothing that I have ever experienced. I've never had difficulties completing a mission because the group had no nukers. On the other hand, I have experienced lots of failures because the party had no concept of teamwork and strategy. Same retarded strategy? Depends on what you consider retarded. Some people might actually find fire nuking + tanking again and again and again rather retarded and boring.

That might be good. For them and for the rest of us. Good time to move on. Or stay and adjust.

Why not? Is it that difficult? I find it kind of fun. I must have done it 20 times or more now. But anyway my comment was not suggesting that the infusion should never be run (just not with me in the party thank you), but rather was a reaction to the player's comment to us that "no one ever fights this mission". Note the word ever in his statement.

There was somebody on these forums (too lazy to track down the thread) talking about the easy 30k per hour they make by running people through the Elona Reach mission, and I can't imagine making nearly that much farming.

Sure, the extra gold the farmers make is a contributing factor to inflation - but at least that's somewhat balanced by the increased supply (and as we all know, more supply tends to lead to lower prices) of weapons, runes, upgrades, ecto, and shards that they inject into the economy. Runners, whether they be "standard runners" or "mission runners" are probably more of an economic threat than farmers.

If this latest update has (as it's been reported) made running even easier due to the AoE effects, I don't think the economy's going to make any vast leaps ahead any time soon...
I gotta agree with ya there, some runners do make a LOT of money. However I think a lot of this is due to GW making if harder for people to run to droks without making it impossible. I persoanlly think that unless they want to completely stop droks runs, they should make droks runs easier, thus allowing more people to make the run, thus giving more supply of runners, thus lowering prices. If they really want to stop droks runs completely, why not build a wall between Droks and Beacons? If that's not possible, fill one part of the run with an incredibly insane number of wurms, heretics, and trolls, so that even if the runner can squeeze past the sheer amount of bodies, they won't make it out alive.

Anyways, to keep this thread from going too far off subject, even though I do believe that droks runners do make a lot of money and imbalance the economy, solo monks that can get an ecto or two per run can still make a LOT of money and do contribute to the imbalance themselves. Because of this I don't think it's wrong to fix solo monks when runners still make uber cash, I think it's wrong that runners still make the uber cash even though they fixed the solo monks of which I am grateful for.

Ok, to adjust try to attack the topic of low lvl characters in droks and the desert I will say this. Unless you have a friend that gives you a ton of cash or you buy it off e-bay (from someone who is probably a runner or solo monk), then you won't be able to get to droks or the desert. These people who get ran places, myself included admittedly, are people who played through the game the old fashioned way earning money from drops in missions and such with at least one character.

I personally think that Anet should give more incentive to play through the rest of the game after ascension and the shiverpeaks, like giving gold or some other kind of items for finishing missions, because really, how useful is exp when you have 30 skill points even though you already have every skill you could possibly want? Also some item or cash reward should be given for beating all the missions and/or quests. This way there will be a lot less people wanting to get ran places or building up as a solo monk to earn cash.

I really don't think that playing with henchies will be that much more difficult if at all because the same AI tweaks that went into the monsters went into the henchies. The official statement on the update from the GW site was:
Improved and corrected problems with Monster and Henchmen AI.

By implementing this update they made sure that the "rich" ppl stay rich forever, great job !

Now about the AI, please give all creatures a second profession (monk) and equip them with spellbreaker..it will make the game even more challenging!

And ofcourse it will prepair them for PvP, because that is what this game is all about, right ? PvE helps you accomodate for PvP wich evryone ofcourse plays, all players just LOVE PvP, no question about it.
I mean who in their right mind would buy this game just to play PvE..

Ow, and don't forget nerf Flame Burst and Inferno, because a 55hp monk can still farm with those 2 skills. (hydra's, griffons, golems)

**In a nutshell** this is the best update EVER, i'm sure the sell-ratio of second chapter will skyrocket, keep up the great work!

~~I hope u can taste the sarcasm~~ ..this will be the downfall of GW.
The next chapter will mostly be sold to ppl that like PvP.

If they want to do something about the way ppl play the game, change it in the SECOND chapter, if you dont like ppl having 1000+plat introduce new currency in the new chapter, make all items sell for that new currency.. like silver and copper.. or whatever.

And since all my characters are PvE, AOE damage build, (Except warrior) i have to buy new skilld for all 3 characters.. at the ratio of 1plat a skill.

--I would like to mention that i am not a farmer, and never farmed befor the 11nov patch (Except green items in teams of 5)--
Imagine my joy when I logged on one day and found that all my characters wer useless

Now i made the 55hp monk and tried to farm.. since they nerfed it.. i wanted to see how bad it is.. and what build could still be effective.

They just lost 1 customer for chapter 2

Yes, but there are two things perhaps. Firstly, maybe a human fire elementalist can learn to use AOE spells a bit more sparingly or, if the situation warrants, not at all. But what about Cynn and Orion? They are still fire elementalists, aren't they? And they probably haven't changed their offensive playing styles. Would be nice if these guys were changed over to, e.g., air elementalists instead. Secondly, a new problem is that the tanking warrior henchmen tend to chase after the enemy they are fighting with when that enemy tries to flee an area spell. And that can very easilly cause the henchy warriors to run into an even greater mob which hasn't been part of the fight yet. I have had this happen: lured a few enemy from a larger mob, far enough away to fight them in peace (so I thought). Then comes Orion's fireshow, off go the enemy back towards the larger mob, with Stephan and Thom chasing. Hello DP!

Yes.. you are right.. they can afford to lose 300k players, why not probably will gain more players with the asians that will get this game..and make even more money

Since i'm not allowed to flame: if this was their plan with the update (to get more asian players by nerfing the ppl that like to use AOE spells..and have been using them since the game released.. than i say *** anet than and *** gw .. it started out great as a (M)Morpg.. and has turned into a Quake4 with swords and spells..

There are ways to force the henchmen to come to you, but they seem to be abit buggy and not reliable.

Ctrl click on your name
or move left and right (also do this to hold them near you if someone is luring)

"most" of the time they work, but ive had occasions where they simply ignore it.

if the mobs were so clever, they wouldn't be so agressive, they'd just invite us for a cup of tee or a poker game.

but thanks to the upgrade I could easily buy some sup monk runes and have fun and challenge killing a couple of desert creatures. yes it's still possible to farm desert.
I was just disappointed 'cause it doesn't bring more money than skeletons in kryta were I used to search gold to pay pretty (or ugly sometimes) 15k armors for my 6 toons when I was not "invicible", but it's really funny.

but now, I'd rather keep on playing this toon in team with my guildmates which is not possible anymore. Oh yes I could heal, I could protect... what about balthazar's aura needing 5 mana and 2 s for reload like others protect skills?
... end of my smiting monk (unless if I want to farm solo)

today I went to surmia with a new toon and the new toon of my husband, we didn't take orion of course, but why the stupid "ascalon rangers" that follow us during the mission make all the charrs flee with their fire arrows??

I had not much fun with my warrior befor the patch, but now I'm really tired runing behind mobs and resurrect alesia.
the only way to have more pleasure with this toon is probably to be rushed to droknar to buy a couple of skills and test them on whatever moves. but with the few skills we can have in ascalon, the game has turned really boring.
here we have only 2 water skill for exemple with a water ele (I raised one befor the patch), how are we supposed to deal with the new AoE effect? (if not rushed, one more time). with the few skills we have, we have to keep fire or fire/alittleearth untill at least Yak. The whole Magumma is hell now, better save time and nerves going that skiped and travel to fischers creek as soon as we're in Temple of Ages. I know it's easy to be adaptable with a lvl 20 that had alredy completed the Pve game and have lot of "รด so marvellous" skills thanks to Amber camp... where are these lvl20 when we need their help and smart adaptability to success missions? are they even PvEing?

oh and another observation for those who think farming brings so huge amount of cash in the game and cause inflation... where do you think that cash goes when we buy armor or crafted weapon? yes it disappears. and most of us are faming and/or speculating to buy the most expensive armor...

now, about classes that are invited in groupes: "wanted 5 surrounding tanks 2 monk and 1 ele" "wanted 2 water ele, 2 feuer ele, 2 monks and 2 warriors" etc... I know it's a little exagerated, but there's no real benefit for other classes.

thanks to the upgrade I found this forum which is very entertaining. I've learned here thats mobs are now as smart as PvPers (dixit themselves) rhmmm... no comment.

(ps: my empathic ground make me feel sorry for you to read my poor english but thanks if you actually did)

They just lost 1 customer for chapter 2
thank you for the laugh as you never farmed but all of your builds were useless and it is the farming community yelling the loudest about busted builds.

ha ha and then the very first thing you do is create a farming monk to see of you can still do what you never did before.

it started out great as a (M)Morpg.. and has turned into a Quake4 with swords and spells..
in case you never read the official site it was never stated to be an MMORPG in the first place so the people coming in thinking this is MMORPG free of monthly fees are coming in with false and uninformed expectations
